Check of a steering column and the top shaft of a steering on presence of damages at failure (at not a cabriolet)

At the had an accident cars with damage of a body and operation of a pillow of safety the steering column can be damaged or its position is broken.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Check up reliability of fastening of two capsules (1) to fixing скобе a steering column. Check up a backlash between capsules and fixing скобой (2) steering columns. From both parties the backlash should make 0 mm (0 inches). If there is a backlash or capsules are weakened, replace a steering column.

Measure distance “a”. If it less the than specified length, replace a column with the new. Length of a steering column “a”: 490.3 ± 1.0 mm (19.30 ± 0.04 inches).

Check up a steering shaft on smoothness of rotation. If defects are found out, replace a steering column.
Check up a steering shaft and a column on bends, cracks and deformations. If defects are found out, replace a steering column.

Check up the bottom epiploon of the top shaft (1) on presence of deformations or breakages. If defect is found out, replace.

Check up муфты a steering shaft and a shaft on presence of any damages (cracks, breaks, malfunctions or excessive mobility). At detection of defects replace the top steering shaft, the bottom steering shaft or a steering column.

Measure distance “b”. If it less the than specified length, replace the top steering shaft with the new. Length of the top steering shaft “b”: 419.0 ± 1.0 mm (16.50 ± 0.04 inches).
